Q1. What was your inspiration and drive behind your latest book?
My latest release a futuristic romantic suspense “The Ways We Follow” (Book 1 Off The Ways duology) is inspired by my life in Russian second largest city—St. Petersburg. Although the story is 100% fictional and its plot set in the future, I want to show how real Russia looks like, destroying all daft clishes people normally associate with Eastern Europe in general and Russia in particular.
Q2. What is your writing kryptonite?
I’d say editing and proofreading. I don’t like to repeat myself and come back to the same story and characters again and again. Marketing and promotion take lots of time and efforts as well.
Q3. If you could tell your younger self anything, what would it be?
I’d tell myself to bother less about another people’s opinion, especially if these people are not a part of my family or not my friends. I’d also tell myself to take advice from professionals and people who have succeeded in their business, not from people who haven’t achieved anything yet.
Q4. Tell us about an early experience where you learned that words have power.
I realised that when I’ve started to write my own stories and saw how much food for thoughts they gave to my readers. Learning history and researching for my writing projects, I’ve realised how powerful words can be in politics. They are really able to change history and transform the whole countries.
Q5. As a multi-genre writer, what is your biggest challenge?
At the moment, I think the biggest challenge for me is to attract more readers and to get my works out there. In my opinion, this is the most difficult part of being a published author regardless of any genre.
Q6. Tell us what we should look out for from you in the future.
My next release, a sequel to “The Ways We Follow”, an action/suspense drama, “Angles of Zion” ,will be published by Crazy Ink Publishing in July this year. Also, my short story, “Destination: Wonderland”, will appear in “Beyond Wonderland” anthology in September. This is a dark, surrealistic retell of the good old classics. Another thiller/sci-fi novella,“The Seeds of Stars”, will be released in December by Crazy Ink Publishing.
